This tumble dryer was showing the water container full light even when empty. In this case the pump has failed. Replacement pump fitted and it's back up and running just as the thunderstorms hit this afternoon. I got soaked going back to the van.

This tumble dryer wasn't tumbling.

It is now tumbling again, just in time for the rainy season. A bad capacitor was the fault. In a tumble dryer the capacitor provides extra charge to get the motor going at the start of a cycle. On most models they're really easy to change. Candy in their infinite wisdom puts them below the drum. A right pain in the bottom as the drum needs to come out.

This customer couldn't remove the filter plug from their machine. They also reported the machine smelling stale.

I got the filter plug out and removed a small pile of hair bands and junk. If one of these bands gets round the drain pump it can cause it to fail.

Washing machines smell for a variety of reasons. The best way to deal with it is to run a cleaner through, you might need to do it more than once.

Once clean leave the door ajar when not in use, regularly run hotter washes, every so often run a service wash (90 degrees, no clothes or detergent) and use powder or liquid at the manufacturers recommended amount. That should prevent smells and keep your machine performing well.

Door seal change on this cracking Bosch washing machine. The old one had a nick in the seal and was slowly leaking. It was dripping on to the fixing clamp and had corroded through the spring. Really shocked that it hadn't caused a major flood.

Replaced the high voltage fuse, tested and away we go purring away and heating as we'd expect it to.

Please, never take the cover off a microwave unless you know what you're doing they run at up to 8000v, low amps so it might not kill but it'll definitely do you some damage.

Anyway the motor failed on this one, so we swapped it over and now it's good to go back to the customer. At the customers request we've installed a more powerful motor than the standard one. This should ensure more powerful suction and all round better cleaning results.

Hoover washing machine showing E8 error code and not spinning.

The remedy, new motor brushes. Ordered after I spoke to the customer at the end of last week. Took them with me to the call out and fitted. Tested and the machine spins up as I'd expect.

The remedy, new motor brushes. Ordered after I spoke to the customer at the end of last week. Took them with me to the call out and fitted. Tested and the machine spins up as I'd expect.

There's a rumble in the tumble! This customer was reporting a leaky and noisy Beko tumble dryer. As you can see the float in the reservoir has disintegrated and wasn't turning the pump on so it kept over filling.

One of the drum support wheels was cracked and not supporting the drum as it's supposed to causing a rumbling noise as it tumbled.

Both parts replaced and the machine is back up and running. Just in time for perfect outdoor drying conditions. I forgot to take a picture of the appliance so I've included a picture of our current head of HR, Roxanne.

This is normally caused by the drain hole being blocked with ice. After a short attack with the trusty steamer it's all sorted. Checked over and there's a steady drip out the back into the drip tray. This is quite a common fault with Samsungs.

A morning of oven elements today. A grill on an AEG and the fan element on the Neff. Both older ovens that have been really well looked after.

This customer had removed the door and pulled the machine out for me. Absolute legend. On a lino floor I always slide a protective board under the machine. Moving heavy machines round can snag and tear lino and no one wants that.

Neff dishwasher not heating. These machines share the same underpinning as the Bosch and Siemens dishwashers. Great machines, the only weakness is the heaters.
